At age six he began studying the violin, and in 1911, at age 17, Benny began his career playing the violin on the vaudeville stage. His violin would...

The Jack Benny Story is a three part retrospective on the life of Jack Benny (1894-1974) that was produced by American International Productions, narrated by Tom Read (executor of the Old Time Radio National Archives). This retrospective was made in early 1975 to be broadcast on radio stations throughout the country. The Paul Harvey Archives obtained a copy of the original tapes from Tom Read in 2017 and digitized them for posterity. Enjoy!

The complete surviving 1939 broadcasts, from original recordings of the program as it went on the air live, without modern remastering or reconditioning. There will be occasional flaws in the recordings but there are few flaws in the performances of Jack Benny and company, who were, by now, long enough established as masters of comic timing. Cast: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Eddie Anderson (Rochester), Kenny Baker through 18 June, Dennis Day as of 8 October, Don Wilson...
